Back in Oz
Hi! Well i back in Australia - back at work and everything... :( .
Anyway the last day in Cambodia was a highlight for me... We attempted to get up at sunrise, ended up being 6am and we could see the red sun rise as we made our way to Angkor Wat - it was very pretty... We had a lovely ride there - this little old lady stopped and asked if we needed help to get to wherever we were going and gave us directions... the lcoals were very friendly and waved at us (and gave us wide berth where possible!) We had to go along some sand roads - definitely not good at riding in sand! Anyway Angkor itself was fantastic - very beautiful... The actual temple of Angkor Wat was absolutely huge - 1km2... all the engravings that they did - every wall seemed to be covered - amazing. Then the other temples were great too - I think my fav was Ta Phrom which had trees growing out of all the temples and stuff (think parts of tombraider was filmed there) and the Bayon temple (has lots of smiling faces on the tops of the towers)... Anyway so we did a bit of bicycling round - thru some roadworks even... Consdiering how many people would be there it was surprising how empty it sometimes felt... - the only time it was crowded was at the Bayon temple as the guides give 8-10 as the ideal time to visit... We went to this mountain which you are meant to watch the sunset from - you had to go up these massively steep and narrow steps adn from there you could just see angkor wat and the sun wasn't even setting near it... so we decided to make our way back down in the light and before everyone was bustling to get down and just made our way slowly back to the hotel (took about an hour) Was a gorgeous sunset - colours were amazing.
That night i had a reflexology foot massage. and then the following morning stella and i had a body exfoliation/massage/sauna package - was lovely but we ended up organse from whatever they used (not a good look for the plane ride home) - so i scrubbed a bit but still had an orange tint... Flight back was ok, managed to nap a bit and flight arrived pretty much on time. Took it easy on the first day back (Friday) and had a good weekend before starting back at work...
Don't worry - only at work 2 weeks before i go to New Zealand for a weeks holiday ;)
