Vietnam - day 0.5 :)
Howdy! Well I have started my 3week Vietnam/Cambodia adventure - yay!!!
KL was a nice surprise... stayed in a fancy hotel (thanks to mum- her shout ;) )... had 2 showers in my room!! Was across the raod from a mall so entertained myself there that night, and watched a movie on the tv before bed... Today I wandered round KL - went in search of the world's tallest flagpole - however i turned the wrong direction when i got off the train so didn't find it til I caught the train home again... but anyway wandered round the city - saw the Pedronias twin towers and before i knew it, it was time to get on my way to the airport... No personal space - cars drive along (no matter what speed) right on each others tails... and in queues people are right up your backside as well...
Air Asia flight was ok - very small seats, and you had to pay to watch movies (i managed to keep myself entertained for the 7hr flight to KL)...
Anyway now in HCMC... Met up with Stella (from the UK who I did Borneo with) at the airport absolutely fine... I had arranged an airport pick up which was great - got a bit of a city tour thrown in... unbelievable all the mopeds - there are packs of them everywhere - crazy driving. We are about to go out now (9pm - 3hrs behind Oz) in search of some money and food... I just spent a million dong on the accom and airport pickup so feeling very poor! :) Very hot here - so glad we have a/c in the room... And glad we booked - there have been heaps of people coming in to check if there are rooms available...
So we are doing the Cu Chi tunnels tomorrow as well as some city exploring... and then we head to the Mekong Delta for a couple of days. Then we go across to Phu Quoc Island for a few days (2-5 Jan)... We are doing the border crossing into Cambodia via boat - apparently the way of 'advenurous travellers....' We hit the Cambodian coast for a few days - do some diving etc... and then head to Siem Reap/ Ankor Wat for a couple more days... and then it is all over :(
Not sure how the internet will be over there but can imagine mum will be keen to have a couple of updates... so there might be some more soon :)
