The Wedding...
Hi. Well we went to Stratford on the Friday - it was pouring with rain. The miserable weather didn't inspire us (altho the village is really pretty) so only stayed a couple of hours and went back home again. Neil had arrived very early that morning from Sweden - so took it easy, caught up with him, watched a movie etc...
The Saturday of the wedding we drove across from Chelteham to Great Missenden which took a couple of hours, checked into the Abbey and got ready. It was pretty cloudy on the drive over, but then the sun miraculously appeared for the wedding!
The wedding was great... Richard was a bit nervous beforehand but handled them very well as he patiently waited until 2.30 when Anna walked down the stairs. The ceremony was nice and simple and Anna looked goreous! Had champagne and nibblies after the ceremoney while photos were being taken. Then had the cake (which Anna's youngest sister had made) and the speeches. Anna's dad did really well (Anna's family all from Germany) with his speech, and Richard's best man had us all entertained with stories about Richard and his pick-up line for Anna (he recited a little german nursery rhyme). Then we had a yummy dinner, a barn dance outside on the lawn where all the girls in their high-heels managed not to get stuck in the muddy ground to twirl and gallop and do-c-do! Then there was a disco, with some late-night snacks whcih ended at midnight... A few of us stayed up with some drinks while the rest went back to their rooms at the Abbey. The following day there was a lunch at Auntie Christine's and Uncle Greg's - and again the weather was nice and sunshine-y! There was a game of rounders for those feeling energetic and a few of us had a game of croquet (much more my speed!). A lot of the guests spent that night at the Abbey as well. The next day Uncle Guy, Auntie Lynne, mum, Neil and I helped pakcing up the marquees and polishing off some leftover food :)
I headed up to London Monday night and caught up with Carmel (who was on my Patagonia tour) that night and then Claire (friend from highschool) the following day. And today have just been doing a bit of shopping and had the most delicious rich and thick hot chocolate at Wendover chocolatier! And off to France tomorrow! Yay!
