no wombles!
Hey! Have been busy checking out the neighbourhood... went to Wimbledon the other day - saw the famous courts, and then walked thru Wimbledon Common to check for wombles - no luck! Have also been thru Twickenham (love the name! - unfortunately rugby or something assocated with it tho!), and also went to the dog racing with Richard, Anna, Neil, Lena and Kate - was fun! - 10p bets for me! - won 40p!!! :) Have been sorting out accomodation for Europe - the jolly world cup is making it a bit difficult so have booked some places a lot in advance (super hard to find places in Munich and Berlin)...
Oh - and in case you hadn't guess I am not coming back to Oz in April as planned :) I've had my leave extended until 13 October...
my plans for europe are pretty much spending a couple of nights at each of the following places...
Spending about a week Belgium, in Bruges, Brussels and Namur (in the Ardennes),
then onto Paris for a few days at the end of May, and overnighting in Strasbourg on my way to the Black Forest.
Spending about a week in the Black Forest, then heading to Switzerland - to Gimmelwald (doesn't that sound like a cool place! - it is central Switzerland), and just having a quick stopover (1/2 day) in Zurich on my way through Liechtenstein onto Lake Constance in Austria. Then heading to Innsbruck for a few days of alpine hikes, onto Salzburg, and then back into Germany to Berchtesgaden (Bavarian Alps), then Munich, Berlin and Rugen Island... and then onto Poland - Warsaw and Krakow before heading back to the UK! All that should take just over a month!
Then I'll be planning to head to the Baltic States for a couple of weeks in June (possibly with my mum who'll be over then) before going to Russia - have been talking to some agencies that help set up homestays and organise train tickets etc for Lake Baikal and Altai Mountains... and am looking at doing a tour to Kamchatka (- a peninsula in far eastern Russia that is near Alaska filled with volcanoes, geysers, blue lakes and 6wd jeep and helicopter rides!!!) - thought might do that instead of Iceland...
hmmm and then after Russia it is my train tour from Istanbul to Prague - before which i am hoping to do a quick week in the Greek Islands for a bit of diving! And then it will be home time!!! Exciting stuff huh?!
