Moscow...

@ 02:37 AM (46 months, 20 days ago)

Howdy! Well I survived the 4days on the train!!! - it was great - lots of chill out time, watching the gorgeous countryside pass you by... - the first train journey from Beijing seemed to take the longest - time just seemed to fly by....  Us girls all treated ourselves to a shower on the third day of the train journey - it was lovely - well worth the 50rubles ($1US = 28RuB)... Stocked up this Russian style instant mashed potato - has all these different flavours... and treated ourselves to some treats from the platforms as well... Also went and had a meal in the dining carriage - where Vladameer was serving - he was very drunk and trying to pick up any female...  The next day - he was still drunk - he found us in our carriage (I was sharing with Pauline and Justin... Celia ended up flying back to London to recover from her bug...) - anyway he sat next to me - is pretty scary when this 50ish russian man is trying to pick you up... - running his tongue along his gold-encrusted teeth - luckily Justin was there to help save me, claiming he was my brother and telling him 'nyet' (no)...

Now am in Moscow - have been to the Red Square - brilliant  - just like a fairy-tale castle! Will be going back tomorrow to have a look inside... It is only minus 15 at the moment... I am used to the -20s now!

After my last blog entry went to the food markets in Irktsk - was brilliant - oodles of food stalls everywhere - never had so much fun grocery shopping!

Oh - and the uniqueness of John - am trying to remember some of his comments... - Wendy comes out of the bathroom today he goes 'Was that you making all that noise in there?" in his monotone voice - he was referring to the hand dryer but it probably isn't the question to be asking someone when emerging from the bathroom...  He doesn't like to give too much away about himself either... - Asking about food we eat at home... we ask if his mum cooks a lot of croatian food 'I guess' he says,  like what we ask, he responds 'I don't know'... hmmm - provides some amusement anyway - and it is probably is one of those things you have to experience first hand i suppose...

food has been great - have been trying the local cuisine and hasn't been too expensive - and the hotels have been pretty good too - the Moscow one is really nice... (for 3*)

anyway off to experience the Moscow night life... :)
